Mushfiq dedicates Bangladesh’s victory against India to his son Mayan

Sports Desk:

Bangladesh began their cricket campaign in style as they clinched a maiden win against India in the first match of the three-match T20I series at Arun Jatley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday night.

Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim led the team to chase down the total with three balls to spare.

The Bangladesh wicketkeeper, who scored 60 off 43 with eight fours and one six, was adjudged player of the match.

Earlier, Bangladesh bowlers delivered a brilliant performance amid smog in the Indian capital, restricting the much-vaunted India to 148-6.

Mushfiq managed to cross the line without a stutter and helped Tigers to not only take a 1-nil lead in the series but also registered the historic win of the 1000th T20 International.

Yet despite the momentous victory, the celebrations from Mushfiqur Rahim, the protagonist of Bangladesh’s chase, were sedate.

The wicketkeeper dedicated his stunning half-century to his two-and-a-half-year old boy Shahrooz Rahim Mayan.

“If you asked about this, I would like to dedicate the innings to my son. I miss him a lot when I am away from home. He is growing fast and can recognise me watching me on Television (TV). It is very special to me. I want to dedicate the fifty as well as the victory to him,” Mushfiq told a national Bangla daily on Monday morning.
